Upcoming Meetings:

QUEEN CIVIC CONGRESS MONDAY June 18 AT 7:00 PM  - QCC forum on LIRR Rockaway Branch reuse Maple Grove Center, 127-15 Kew Gardens Road

The meeting will be a forum featuring two panels discussing opposing views of the future use of the LIRR Rockaway Beach Branch. Assemblyman Philip Goldfeder will head up a panel supporting reestablishing a mass transportation link on the right-of-way. A panel advocating a greenway on the abandoned line, similar to the famous High Line Park in Manhattan (http://www.thehighline.org), will be headed up by Andrea Crawford, Chair, Queens Community Board 9. Panelists on both sides are very knowledgeable transportation or parks advocates. You've probably read about one side or the other in the Queens papers, but this will be the first time the two sides address each other. This is not a debate and no votes will be held, but it promises to be very informative. Maple Grove is a gorgeous venue for this type of gathering and we look forward to seeing a full house for this discussion.

Meetings of the Executive Committee are open to all QCC members and take place at 8:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) If you wish to add an agenda item, please email Rich Hellenbrecht at least 24 hours in advance.
